Military Transitions

I only mentioned one use of the O*Net in my second post. How can I use the O*Net to identify occupations similar to those performed in the military? The O*Net has a military crosswalk that will get you started, by branch of service and Military Occupational Code (MOC). The results can produce a broad list of occupations, which will require close review. Detail your rank, responsibilities and training to closely match civilian occupations. Occupational groups will show job titles, skills, duties, knowledge and abilities which could be used as “civilian” language on a resume. If the MOS search displays few occupations or none of interest to you, take the O*Net Interest Profiler test to develop some.
