How to Explore Civilian Careers For Active Military

My Next Move has several features that will allow you to explore careers by similar skills, interest, and values.  

Start at https://www.mynextmove.org/vets/ 

Enter the branch, name, or code of your military classification to find suggested civilian careers with similar work.

On the displayed page there are two ways to find civilian careers. The first is to select the hyperlink “careers in the military”. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find civilian related careers. Select any of those careers to get a quick description of duties, required, education, certification, and employment outlook.

The second method is to select any of the highlighted careers. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select See more details at O*NET OnLine. The page will display the occupation that you have selected, scroll to the bottom of the page and note the interests. Write those interests down, they can be used to  develop more related occupations at https://www.onetonline.org/find/descriptor/browse/1.B.1

Select one of the interests that you have written down, it will take you to a page that allows you to add other interests to discover more occupations.
